Hello everyone! We are deep into winter and I find myself missing the fresh weekly produce as I try to make the best out of winter. Interestingly, my worms seem to have benefited greatly from the over abundance of produce this summer, so much so that they have reproduced to a point that I can no longer sustain them. Yeah that’s right, I have worms that eat my trash. Fantastic deal I have going with these little Red Wigglers, they eat my kitchen trash and I get the most fantastic fertilizer for my garden and indoor plants. I also get an organic fungicide and insecticide… amazing deal huh?

Here’s how it works. You set up a bin, that can be done for under $20 or free if you have the stuff around. Then you layer your food in the bins with shredded paper, put the worms in, and they eat and compost everything in the bin into fantastic fertilizer and you get juices that are fungicide, insecticide, and fertilizer. The bins don’t stink, can be done on a small scale in an apartment. Bins must be kept at about 50-80 degrees F.

So here’s the deal to my fellow CSA members… if you set up a bin I will let 400-500 of my worms move into your bins and do the same for you. I have several 1000 worms, so no worries I am sure I have enough. If you want worms please contact me directly at webmaster@cvcsa.org
